Guns seized, 2 rape suspects held

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 3 (CIDG-3) confiscated guns and ammunition in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija and arrested the other day two men who are wanted by the law for rape in Zambales.

Lt. Col. Jerrold Jake Mangurra, acting regional officer of CIDG-3, said one Armscor cal. .45 pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition for the said gun was confiscated from one Jerry Saludes, 54, in Barangay La Purisima, La Paz, Tarlac.

The gun and ammunition were found after a court issued a search warrant against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

In Barangay Caalibangbangan, Cabanatuan City, one Michael Jun Miranda, 39, was arrested after the court issued a search warrant against him and CIDG operatives found an Armscor cal. .45 pistol with 11 pieces of live ammunition in his residence.

Both Saludes and Miranda are facing charges for violation of RA 10591.

In Barangay Taltal, Masinloc, Zambales, one Alejandro Edpalina was arrested by virtue of a court-issued warrant for the crime of kidnapping with rape in relation to RA 7610. The court recommended no bail for the suspect.

Edpalina is listed as the most wanted person in Masinloc.

In Barangay Inhobol, also in Masinloc, operatives implemented a warrant and arrested one Toriesbert Moore for two counts of rape in relation to RA 7610 with recommended bail of P200,000.

The two suspected rapists were detained at the municipal police station pending the issuance of commitment and transfer order from the court.
