SAN JOSE City -- A businesswoman and her balikbayan-daughter on Thursday accused their housemaid of robbing them on the very first day she was hired.

Complainants Lourdes Correa, 68, and her daughter France Lou, 38, an overseas Filipino worker from Dubai, both of Zone 3, Bgy. Sto. Niño 1st here, told local police commander Supt. Marco Dadez that suspect Irene Carbonnel, 38, of Zone 6-B, Bgy. F. E. Marcos, managed to escape after the robbery.

Dadez said the heist was discovered around 7 p.m. when the victims came home and saw the doors of their bedrooms forcibly opened.

The cops said the suspect took with her an HP laptop computer, a Michael Kors bag, two gold bracelets, P10,000 cash and a mobile phone.

The victims’ trusted companion Lourdes Seriales said the robbery happened while Correa was tending their rice mill in Bgy. Tulat and France Lou was at their rice retailer store in the city’s public market.

Seriales told police the suspect went to the rice retailer store twice on two consecutive days to apply for the job and on the third day, she was hired and started to work at the house on the same day.

“Kinukutuban na ako noon pa sa babae dahil noong kinukuhanan ko siya ng litratro sa cellphone ko habang nasa bahay parang paiwas pa siya,” Seriales said.

Dadez said charges for qualified theft are being readied against the suspect.
