RE-ELECTED Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte appealed to the Dabawenyos to be part of another three-year journey toward development of the city and the country.
During her inauguration at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building in Davao City, Mayor Sara said she will continue Biyaheng Du30, this time focusing on at least 30 major projects for the city and the entire Davao region.
She also urged the elected local officials to actively participate in the BIyaheng Du30 program.
“We aim to continue our programs that are catalysts for further growth and see to it that we provide a business climate that is fitting to the needs of both investors and workers,” the presidential daughter said.
“And to accomplish things beyond the goals is a personal challenge that I hope all the other elective and appointive officials of the city will all share with me,” she added.
One of the guests during the event was incoming Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, who is a contender in the Speakership race for the 18th Congress.
For her second term, Mayor Sara took her oath before Judge Jill Rose Jaugan-Lo.
The founder of the Hugpong Pagbabago expressed gratitude to the people of Davao for their trust and confidence to the Duterte family.
Aside from Mayor Sara, also elected were her brothers Paolo as representative of the 1st district of Davao City, and Sebastian “Baste” as vice mayor.
The past three years saw accelerated economic boom, with the Davao region becoming the second best performing region in the country in terms of gross regional domestic product, with a growth rate of 8.6 percent in 2018.
For the next three years of Biyaheng Du30, Mayor Sara is targeting for Davao City to be 100 percent insurgency-free by 2020, for the city’s poverty incidence of 7.8 percent in 2018 to be further reduced, for the city to be more secure, and for development to further flourish.
