METAL railings that will ensure safety of pedestrians and bikers are now being installed at the Leyte Road Heightening and Tide Embankment Project in Eastern Visayas Region.

In her report to Publivc Works Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH-VIII Director Nerie Bueno said the installation works have begun and will cover Barangays 89 and 90 in Tacloban City and Barangays Candahug, MacArthur Shrine, Baras, Bernard Reed Bridge, and Cogon in Palo, Leyte.

“Eventually, the entire 31.47-kilometer Storm Surge Protection structure that will protect the coastal villages of Tacloban, Palo, and Tanauan, Leyte, will have metal railings to provide safety and prevent accidental falls of people walking and biking,” Bueno said.

Bueno added that Section 4 is now 61 percent completed, while the 5.07-kilometer Section 5 covering Barangay Cogon, San Joaquin, Mohon and Calogcog in Palo and Tanauan is ongoing.
