SARIAYA, QUEZON — A jealous farmer who allegedly stabbed his live- in partner to death ended up dead after he was shot in the head by the latter’s brother in Sitio Duluhan, Bgy. Manggalang 1, here, on Saturday, police reported yesterday.
Town police commander Lt. Col. Reynaldo Reyes said the woman, Leilanie Montejo, 37, was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital in San Juan, Batangas while her live in partner Aldwin Bacaro, 38, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Candelaria, Quezon.
In his report to newly installed Quezon police director Col. Ericson Dilag, Reyes said Bacaro was jealous of Montejo’s 17 year-old-son by her former husand.
Reyes said the boy lives with his grandmother in a nearby house.
While confronting Montejo at around 3:30 a.m., Reyes said Bacaro took a knife and stabbed his live-in girlfriend several times in the body.
Montejo’s relatives tried to pacify Bacaro but he kept stabbing the victim.
“It was at that point that Montejo’s elder brother Emerson Roño, 39, came to the rescue and shot Bacaro using a cal. 45 pistol,” said Reyes.
The couple were rushed to separate hospitals while Roño voluntarily surrendered to the police.
Quoting accounts of some residents in the village, Reyes said Bacaro was a known trouble maker and was frequently seen hurting Montejo.
“They said Bacaro’s first live- in partner had abandoned him because of his being jealous and harmful” Reyes said.
