THE Philippine National Police leadership yesterday ordered the administrative relief of the chief of the Jolo Municipal Police Station in Sulu amid the ongoing investigation into the killing of four Army soldiers by the local police last week, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office director, Brigadier General Manuel M. Abu said.
Lieutenant Colonel Walter Annayo was transferred to the Sulu Police Provincial Office and told to be ready to answer questions from the National Bureau of Investigation and the PNP Internal Affairs Service.
Abu said the relief of Annayo is part of police protocols when it comes to investigating major incidents.
"If we find out na later on wala naman talagang lapses on the performance of his duty, he'll be back again," explained the ARMM police director.
Abu said that there is still no instruction yet from the PNP leadership to relieve the Sulu Police Provincial Office director amid the infamous shooting incident.
