‘Joma Sison,’ New People’s Army members charged for killing vendor

OVER a dozen suspected New People’s Army rebels led by a namesake of Communist Party of the Philippines self-exiled founding leader Joma Sison were charged with murder over the killing of a 57-year-old vendor in Baleno, Masbate, a Police Regional Office 5 report said yesterday.

Amellia Valladores, a resident of Bgy. Canjunday in Baleno municipality, was shot in her house around 6 a.m. on June 5, said PRO5 director Brig. Gen. Arnel Escobal.

Charged with murder before the Masbate Provincial Prosecutor’s Office were Arnold Rosero alias “Joma Sison/Ka Star,” Rolidel Tugbo alias “Ka Bungkig,” Joselito Tugbo, Abnito Tugbo, Arnel Gonzaga, Gery Galban, Joseph Galban, Fedirico Robles, Joseph Galban, Domingeto Robels and several other John Does.

Escobal said that the suspects were identified as the gunmen who killed
Valladores before fleeing towards the mountainous area of Baleno municipality.

Responding members of the Baleno Municipal Police Station recovered 23 spent cal. .45 cartridges and six spent M-16 casings at the scene of the murder.

The motive behind the killing of Valladores is being investigated.
