AN 80-year-old resident of Sikatuna, Bohol was found hanging from a coconut tree at the back of their house on Tuesday afternoon in what police said was an apparent suicide case.

Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said the body of Agapito Calimpusan was discovered by his grandson hanging  on the coconut tree at the back of their house in Purok 3, Barangay Badiang in Sikatuna town at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

An investigation conducted by the Sikatuna Municipal Police Station led by Lt. Rolando Amor showed that the victim was last seen by his wife Simplicia napping in their house around at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, just minutes after he had his lunch.

Later in the afternoon, the 83-year-old Simplicia asked her grandson to look for his grandpa. The young boy was shocked to discover his grandfather with a rope tied around his neck and hanging from the coconut tree.

The local police, joined by municipal health officer, Dr. Paz Maniwang, found no sign of foul play. However, they are still investigating why the victim took his life.
