CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A senior citizen was killed by a motorcycle-riding gunman near the SM and Robinsons malls here while an executive of the Universal Robina Corporation is in critical condition after he was shot along the highway in nearby City of San Fernando the other day.
Around 11:30 a.m. last Monday, Mario Lalic, 67, a resident of nearby Angeles City, was driving his pick-up truck along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay San Jose here and got stuck at the traffic lights.
While waiting for the green light, a man on board a black motorcycle pulled over beside the victim’s vehicle, walked towards the victim, and shot him several times at close range. Lalic died instantly due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect, who was wearing short pants, black jacket, sandals and a helmet, then rode his motorcycle and drove towards Mexico town.
Along the national road in Barangay San Agustin here, URC executive Nelson Pineda, 49, was driving his car when an occupant of a black sports utility vehicle repeatedly shot him.
Pineda, who suffered two gunshot wounds in the body, was rushed to a hospital.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel has ordered the Pampanga and City of San Fernando police offices to solve the crimes as soon as possible.
Investigators were already coordinating with local government offices and private establishments for the review of closed circuit television camera footages along and near where the shooting incidents occurred for the identification of the assailants.
