A MAGNITUDE 5.4 quake jolted Occidental Mindoro early Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The tectonic quake struck 23 kilometers (kms.) southwest of the municipality of Looc at 4:06 a.m. It had a depth of 33 kms.
Intensity IV was felt in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, and Tagaytay City.
Intensity III was felt in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Muntinlupa City; Makati City; and Quezon City, while intensity II was reported in Marikina City; Malabon City; Meycauayan City, Bulacan; and Floridablanca, Pampanga.
The following instrumental intensities were recorded:
Intensity IV – Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City
Intensity III – Talisay, Batangas; Carmona, Cavite; Marilao, Bulacan

Reported intensity is the traditional way of knowing the intensity based on reports by people who felt the earthquake, Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. said earlier.
An intensity meter measures ground acceleration, and what is being measured is called the instrumental intensity, he added.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said aftershocks are likely, while damage to structures is not expected from the magnitude 5.4 quake. Philippine News Agency
