A 44-YEAR-OLD resident of Talisay City in Cebu province is now in jail facing non-bailable criminal charges after he was accused of raping six of his own children, the Police Regional Office 7 said yesterday.
The suspect identified as “EDJ,” a resident of Bgy. Jaclupan in Talisay City, was turned over by local village officials to the Talisay City Police Station following a complaint from his three daughters and three sons, said PRO7 director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.
Sinas said that shortly after the suspect was hauled to jail, his children went to the local police station and filed a complaint against him.
The eldest of the complainants is 18 years old while the youngest is only 4 years old.
Four of his daughters claimed that they were raped on several occasions by their father while one of his sons accused the suspect of forcing him to have anal sex with him.
The suspect’s alleged last victim was his 13-year-old daughter.
Another son of the suspect was also reportedly threatened with a gun by the suspect after he had the gall to speak against him.
Sinas said that the incident triggered the arrest of the suspect by barangay tanods in the area.
The suspect yielded an unlicensed firearm during his arrest.
The suspect initially will be facing charges for one count of rape under Republic Act 8353, grave threat and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition and Regulations Act of 2013.
Sinas said that the Talisay City Police Station’s Women and Children Protection Center is investigating the other complaints against the suspect, in coordination with the City Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The suspect was also subjected to a mandatory drug test.
