GENERAL NATIVIDAD, Nueva Ecija -- A man was nabbed for direct assault for attacking with a bolo a barangay kagawad and three tanods when they tried to arrest him after he allegedly went amuck and threatened his live-in partner with the same bladed weapon here on Tuesday night.
Police information officer Major Manuel Catacutan identified the arrested suspect as Romano Liday, 42, a native of Antagan 1st, Tumawini, Isabela and of Bgy. Picaleon, this town.
Catacutan said his arrest was made shortly after the suspect’s live-in partner, Andrea Penilla sought help from the barangay kagawad and his men at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Penilla alleged that the suspect was mad while carrying a bolo as if trying to threaten her at their house.
When the four barangay men arrived to pacify the suspect, the latter however hurled invectives at them and even attacked them with a bolo.
Catacutan said the suspect was eventually overpowered and arrested then brought to the police station facing direct assault charges.
