Man, store owner killed in Batangas road accidents

BATANGAS City --  A 49-year-old man and a  female store owner were killed in separate road accidents in the province.

Batangas City police commander Supt. Sancho O. Celedio said Juny Reyes, a native of Cagpandan Proper, Baken, Masbate, was crossing the national road in Bgy.  Balagtas, Batangas City when he was hit by a speeding van driven by Genesis Urot, 33, of Gomez St., Parada, Valenzuela City, around 2:55 p.m.

The Mitsubishi van, registered under Total Quality MFG Products Phil’s.  Corp., was going to Bgy. Soro-Soro Karsada when it sideswept Reyes.

Reyes was declared dead upon arrival at the St.  Camillus de Lilis Hospital.

Meanwhile, 50-year-old Lorna Miralles, store owner and resident of Bgy. San Miguel, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on Friday died after she was hit by a motorcycle on Maharlika Highway, Bgy. San Miguel.

Alvarez sustained severe injuries  and died while being rushed to the St. Cabrini Hospital.

The motorbike rider who is now in police custody was identified as Emilio Morada, 38, of Blk. 10 Lot. 31, Mercedes Subdivision, Bgy. San Miguel.

Local police said the victim was crossing on the highway when the motorcycle hit her.
