TWO still unidentified gunmen shot and killed a member of the Philippine Marines in Quezon, Palawan last Good Friday before fleeing on foot, a belated Police Regional Office 4-B report said yesterday.
PRO4-B director, Brigadier General Tomas C. Apolinario Jr. said that Marine trooper Alfred John de Leon, a resident of Barangay Tagusao in the Quezon municipality was standing in front of an improvised cockpit arena in their neighborhood when the suspects arrived at 3:30 p.m. last Friday.
Without any provocation, the suspects suddenly pulled out their concealed firearms and repeatedly fired at the soldier killing him on the spot.
Apolinario said he has ordered a continuing hunt for the killers who will be facing murder charges. The manhunt operation is being coordinated by the local police with the Marine forces stationed in the area, the official said.
