DAET, Camarines Norte – A hotel owner who had gone missing for nine days on Friday was found dead and decomposing in a septic tank of his own hotel in this town.
Police identified the victim as Emilio Aytona Jr., 70, owner of Kanimog Hotel in San Vicente Road, Purok 2, Bgy. Lag-on, this municipality.
Aytona’s son, Paul Vincent, told the police that his father went missing since January 8.
The businessman was apparently killed by his employee, Nestor Nabo Quiñones, 54, a maintenance worker at the hotel for seven years.
Police said on a CCTV footage at the hotel, Quiñones was seen dragging Aytona’s body to the septic tank.
The victim’s legs were tied with nylon rope.
Lt. Col. Sentero of the Daet Municipal Police Station said the suspect killed the businessman with a steel pipe.
Quiñones, who admitted to the brutal slaying, told the police that he hit the victim in the face and head after an argument over the repair of a portion of the hotel’s ceiling.
Instead of fleeing, the suspect returned to work as if nothing had happened until he was caught with the help of the establishment’s CCTV.
Police failed to recover the steel pipe used in the killing.
