CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- A 26-year-old man charged with murder and a 44-year-old woman sued for qualified theft were nabbed by authorities in Bgys. Poblacion 8, and Emmanuel, respectively, provincial police Public Information Ofice (PIO) chief Senior Insp. Kerwin Amor Umali Cabrales said on Tuesday.
Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin A. Quilates said the suspects were identified as Jan Karlo Atienza, alias Bingot, 26, single, of Bgy. Poblacion 8, and Evelyn Rosales Catangay-Carandang, married, jobless, of Bgy. Emmanuel.
Atienza was tagged no. 1 most wanted person for murder (Article 24 of the Revised Penal Code) under Manhunt Charlie in Cuenca and one of the top three most wanted personalities of Makati City police.
Quilates said Cuenca Municipal Police Station personnel led by Senior Insp. Marietes P. Salanguit, together with SPO3 Richard Bumogas, of Makati City Police Station, conducted an operation and arrested the suspect at 9:30 a.m. by virtue of a warrant for murder under Criminal Case No. 159560 issued on March 1, 2017 of the Regional Trial Court Branch 262 of Pasig City National Capital Judicial Region of Pateros, Metro Manila, signed by Judge Joy N. Cashyan-Dumlao, with no bail recommended.
Rosales was also arrested at 2 p.m. by virtue of a warrant for qualified theft (three counts) in Criminal Case Nos. 0066-2005 to 0068-2005 issued on Oct. 11, 2018 by RTC Branch 13 of Lipa City issued by Judge Noel M. Lindog, and was convicted on the said offense, said Salanguit.
