TEN illegal gambling personalities in Metro Manila were arrested by agents of the Regional Special Operations Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office in separate operations in Manila and Makati City on Monday and Tuesday, NCRPO director, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar announced yesterday.
Five of the suspects were arrested in an operation against illegal ‘Loteng/EZ 2’ operation at no. 635 Pavia Street in Barangay 57, Tondo, Manila.
The five were identified as ‘Loteng/EZ 2’ bet supervisor or ‘kabo’ Ramon de Mesa, 61, and bet collectors Richa Nicolas, 35; Arthur Yabut, 40; Gerwen de Mesa, 35, and Sipriano Gula Jr., 31.
Yabut was the first to be arrested after he was spotted collecting illegal bets in the area. Gula was apprehended for placing a P40 bet on Yabut. The rest were arrested inside 635 Pavia Street which yielded different ‘Loteng/EZ 2’ gambling paraphernalia and more than P3,000 in bets.
The other five suspects were arrested for operating an ‘EZ2/Loteng/horse-racing bookies’ at 8090 E. Progreso Street in Bgy. Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
They were identified as Arnel Gutierrez, Herminio Vasquez, Jerome Romasanta, Rodel Gelig and Erika Abenio.
All are now facing charges for violation of the illegal gambling law.
