A 58-YEAR-old man who hacked his neighbor to death in Virac, Catanduanes on Monday surrendered to the local barangay captain and is now facing a murder case, a Police Regional Office 5 report said yesterday.
Suspect Francis Aguilar, a construction worker from Barangay Talisoy in Virac yielded to village chief Recky Urbano at 11 a.m. and was turned over to the Virac Municipal Police Station, said PRO5 director, Brigadier General Arnel B. Escobal.
According to the official, the suspect was accused of hacking Lino Gracer, 56, in the different parts of his body on Sunday. The victim’s body was discovered lying in a drainage by a passerby at 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Escobal said that the weapon used in the killing was recovered by the local police who also filed a murder case against the suspect before the Virac, Catanduanes Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
An old grudge is believed to have triggered the killing, the official said.
