NPA leader killed in Bukidnon

A LEADER of the New Peoples’ Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter with government forces the other day in Bukidnon.

This was confirmed yesterday by Brig.Gen. Edgardo De Leon, commander of Philippine Army’s 403rd Brigade.

De Leon identified the slain NPA leader as Joven Manggatawan alias “Amana,”  leader of Sentro de Grabidad (SDG) platoon of CPP-NPA’s Company Thunder, Subregional Command 2 of NCMRC terrorizing southern Bukidnon areas.

The group claimed responsibility for attacks ans atrocities against civilian farm compounds and destruction of civilian-owned equipment in southern Bukidnon.

Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo showed that the incident occurred at around 9:30 1 a.m. within the jurisdiction of Sitio Bankalawan, Narangau Lumintaw, Quezon, Bukidnon.

Accordingly army units in Bukidnor are conducting pursuit operarion against the rebels in the area in response to the recent instruction of President Duterte to the AFP.

Elements of 88th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat operation in the area when they encountered the rebels.
A firefight occurred and resulted to the killing of the NPA leader.

At the heights of the gunfight the rebels scampered and left their dying leader .
They als left one M16 rifle, two anti-personnel mines which are banned by the

Ottawa Conventions, one rifle grenade; two ammunition magazines for M16 rifle; one ammunition magazine for AK47 rifle, one commercial radio; six 20-liter water containers filled with rice grain, assorted personal belognings and subversive documents.
