NPA plan to hit Negros foiled

August 13, 2019

GOVERNMENT forces foiled what could have been a deadly attack of New Peoples Army following the recovery of one KG9 sub-machine gun with one magazine and 24 rounds of ammunition in Negros Oriental.

This was confirmed yesterday by Captain Cenin Pancito III, spokesman of Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry.

Pancito said elements of 94th Infantry Battalion were patrolling at Barangay Balogo, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental when they noticed five fully-armed individuals wearing camouflage uniform roaming in the area.

The troops tried to pursue them but the armed men noticed their presence so they scampered in different directions.

When the troops search the area, they found the submachine gun, magazine and ammunition.

LTC Randy Pagunuran, Commanding Officer, 94IB said soldiers were conducting focused military operation in the area after receiving reports from the residents that the rebels are seen roaming in the community.

He said the rebels are believed to planning to launch a terror attack against Balogo CAA Patrol base.

“We will be relentless in our operations; we will not give them the chance to recruit innocent children to do the dirty work for them. Exploiting the youth’s innocence to become criminals is even tantamount to violation of RA 7610 which provides children with special protection against exploitation.” Pagunuran said.
