A registered nurse and a licensed pharmacist were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency yesterday for their involvement in the sale and delivery of high-breed marijuana and the designer drug called ‘Ecstasy,’ PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino said.

Suspects Juan Carlos Reyes Antonio, 32 and Nilo Ramirez Jr., a nurse, are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PDEA chief said.

Aquino said that members of the PDEA Special Enforcement Service, with the assistance of the Pasig City Police-Community Precinct 1 arrested Antonio during a buy-bust operation inside Room 2212 of Privato Hotel located along Shaw Boulevard in Pasig City at 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were six plastic sachets containing marijuana ‘Kush,’ 20 Ecstasy tablets, one ‘Fly High’ capsule, nine bottles containing suspected liquid Ecstasy, various drug paraphernalia and the marked money paid to him by an undercover officer.

On the other hand, Ramirez was arrested two hours later along Kamuning Road in Quezon City.

The suspect yielded three plastic sachets containing an estimated 10 grams of shabu, 11 ‘Fly High’ capsules, five Ecstasy tablets, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.

Aquino said they are investigating reports that online shopping sites and app-based delivery services are being used by the suspects to sell and distribute their illegal stuff.
