Occidental Mindoro to host 2020 Palaro

OCCIDENTAL Mindoro lone district Rep. Josephine “Nene” Ramirez-Sato hailed the formal turnover of the hosting of the 2020 Palarong Pambansa.

She called on fellow Mindorenos to work together for Occidental Mindoro’s historic hosting of the much-awaited sporting event.

“Let us work hand in hand to ensure our successful hosting of the 2020 Palarong Pambansa.  Sama-sama po natin ipamalas ang mainit na pagtanggap sa ating mga manlalaro at ipakita po natin ang nakabibighaning kagandahan ng ating lalawigan,” said Sato as she congratulated Davao City for its successful hosting of the 2019 Palaro.

Sato issued the call after the closing ceremonies of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio at the UP Sports Complex in Davao City on May 4.

The event saw Duterte-Carpio turning-over the banner of the Palarong Pambansa to local officials of Occidental Mindoro.

During a brief conversation with the presidential daughter, Sato expressed her awe at the way the young Davao City mayor managed the city’s hosting of the sporting event.

The event also saw Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Revsee A. Escobedo, OIC Undersecretary, Secretary General of Palarong Pambansa, officially announcing that the 2020 Palarong Pambansa will be hosted by Occidental Mindoro, which won the bid for the event’s hosting.

Occidental Mindoro provincial Gov. Gene Mendiola and Vice Gov. Peter Alfaro accepted the challenge of the province’s hosting the much-awaited sporting event.

Around 12,000 athletes representing their respective schools, cities, and towns in 17 regions are expected to compete in various sporting events that will feature some of the best of the best athletes from elementary and high school levels.
