STO. Domingo, Nueva Ecija -- Mayor Greg G. Andres yesterday offered a P100,000 bounty for any information that would lead to the arrest of the killers of ex-Barangay Captain Juanito Sana, who was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men upon entering his residential compound last Sunday morning.
“Magbibigay po ako ng P100,000 na reward sa sinumang makapagtuturo sa salarin o para sa agarang ikalulutas ng kaso,” said Andres, who earlier condemned the killing.
Sana, 72, a former three-term barangay captain of San Pascual and whose wife is a cousin of the mayor, died from two gunshot wounds during an attack staged by two suspects, who apparently tailed the victim and one of them shot him from behind.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Eliseo T. Tan-ding said they are investigating all possible motives behind the killing, including personal, business or politics.
He said they already have a “person of interest” but he could not reveal further details in order not to jeopardize their ongoing investigation.
“Okay naman po kung mayroon nang person of interest ang kapulisan,” reacted Mayor Andres when informed about said development by this reporter yesterday.
Andres said the gun attack on Sana, a municipal coordinator of first district Rep. Estrellita Suansing, occurred several weeks before he asked Tanding to relieve town police head, Chief Insp. Abraham Atencio.
The mayor said he already earlier warned Atencio to double their efforts in conducting round-the-clock checkpoints, particularly along strategic locations of the highway, including the San Pascual-Mambarao Road where the ex-barangay official was slain.
