P1M shabu seized from ex-kagawad turned trader, farmer in Cabanatuan

CABANATUAN CITY — A former barangay councilor-turned-businessman and a farmer were nabbed while over P1 million worth of shabu were allegedly seized from the duo following a buy-bust Thursday morning here.

Nabbed were businessman Gendel Alamon, 44, alias Gembong, also a former barangay kagawad, of Purok 3, Bgy. Bibiclat, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija and farmer Christopher Dela Cruz, 33, alias Ian, of Purok 6, Bgy. San Josef Sur, this city.

City police head Lt. Col. Barnard Danie Dasugo said the suspects were apprehended at 3:30 a.m. in Purok 6, Bgy. Hermogenes Concepcion Sr.

In his report to provincial police director Col. Jaime O. Santos, Dasugo said a police poseur-buyer was able to buy three plastic sachets containing shabu worth P1,500 from Dela Cruz.

During the arrest, Dela Cruz also was found in possession of another 20 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu while Alamon yielded 10 plastic sachets of the illegal drugs and a .38 caliber revolver with six bullets.

Seized were 150.35 grams of shabu with a street value of P1,022,380, said Dasugo.

Meanwhile, in Zaragosa, police led by Major Jaime P. Ferrer neutralized a suspected drug peddler identified as August Caling, 43, of Valino St., Bgy. Aduas Sur, Cabanatuan City, following an armed encounter in Bgy. Concepcion.

Ferrrer said Caling engaged lawmen in a gunfight, resulting in his instantaneous death.

Seized during the encounter were a .38 caliber revolver, two fired cartridge cases for a .38 caliber revolver, two fired cartridge cases for a 9mm, 12 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, the P500.00 buy-bust money, a cellphone, and the suspect’s Kawasaki Bajaj CT 100 motorcycle.
