CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Operatives led by the Regional Intelligence Division-Special Concern Unit (RID-SCU) confiscated P3.9 million worth of fake cigarettes the other day in Baliuag, Bulacan.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Director Brigadier Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel, RID-SCU chief Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal said four vendors were also arrested during the operation.

Nabbed were Lloyd Francis Dimaranan, 26; Victor Lopez, 58; Dorothy Dimaano-Sayo, 46; and Marilou Torres, 47.

The seized fake products included Mighty, Two Moon, Marvels, Jackpot, Marlboro and Champion cigarettes.

The marked money used by the police in the buy-bust operations were also recovered from the vendors.

Dimaandal said a case for violation of Republic Act 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines) is now being prepared by this Office while  RA 10983 (Intellectual Property Rights), RA 1937 (Tariff and Customs Law of the Philippines) and RA 8424 (Tax Code of the Philippines) are also being prepared by other agencies for filling in court against the above named suspects.
