P4M marijuana plants destroyed

AN estimated P4 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings found planted in a secret cannabis plantation in Toledo City in Cebu have been uprooted and destroyed by security forces, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.

The official said that combined officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Toledo City Police Station led by Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter and the Bravo Company of the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion headed by Captain Jayrod Cabahug burned the prohibited crops in Sitio Himatogan in Barangay Captain Claudio in Toledo City last Saturday.

Sinas said that the lawmen went to the site following an intelligence report that the fully-grown marijuana plants were about to be harvested.

He added that a suspected cultivator of the marijuana plants identified as Elmer Cantutay alias ‘Jun-Jun,’ a 32-year old local resident was arrested during the operation where troops uprooted and destroyed around 10,000 fully-grown cannabis plants.
