P6.8M cocaine found on Quezon shore

JOMALIG, Quezon — Another brick of cocaine on Friday was found floating near  this island town.

Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo said the cocaine brick weighed one kilo and worth around P6.8 million.

Madrideo said the illegal drugs, which was wrapped in a brown package,  was found by fisherman Jose Mercado floating at the shore of Bgy. Apad at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mercado immediately brought the cocaine brick to the police station and was subsequently taken to the Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in Lucena City for safekeeping.

Earlier, some 35 kilos of cocaine worth P238 million were found on separate occasions in the coastal and island towns of Quezon since February this year.
