Pampanga hostage-taker shot dead

ANGELES City -- A 59-year-old famer was shot by policemen after he took hostage five family members at knifepoint in Barangay Malabanias here Saturday evening.

Maj. Rolando Doroja, of Police Station 4 here, identified the suspect as Narciso Trinidad, a native of Calbayog City in Eastern Samar.

Around 10:20 p.m., the suspect took a knife and threatened to kill his wife Veronica, 59; daughters Analisa, 34, and Jessa, 32; grandson Arzel Pallones, 8; and guest Carl Burke Daniel, 69.

The victims were able to call the police for help while being held hostage by  the suspect.

When policemen arrived in their house at Josefaville Subdivision, they heard the hostages shouting for help, prompting them to force open the door.

After opening the door, the suspect allegedly tried to attack the policemen with a knife, prompting them to shoot the suspect. The suspect was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Analisa told police the suspect was suffering from depression and the suspect also held hostage members of his family in Samar 22 years ago.
