PDEA arrests MILF member, 3 others over P3.4M shabu

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Wednesday arrested a platoon leader of the Moro Islamic Liberaton Front, his wife and two other women after they conspired to sell 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million to an undercover officer in Cotabato City, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino announced yesterday.

The official identified the arrested suspects as Johare Adam Talib alias ‘Alex/Sare,’ described as a platoon leader of the MILF 105th Base Command, his wife, Rahma Kalibu Talib, alias ‘Bai Rakma/Machulig,’ and their accomplices Kandong Pait and Norma Panes.

Aquino said that members of the PDEA Bangsamoro Administrative Region and PDEA Regional Office 12, joined by the local police arrested the trio during an entrapment operation at the vicinity of Cotabato City Plaza located along Makakua Street, Poblacion 5, Cotabato City.

Two young children of Talib who were with them in a multi-cab they used to transport the drugs were turned over by the PDEA to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Aquino said that confiscated from the suspects were one sando bag containing 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing about 500  grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P3.4 million in the underground market, assorted identification papers and the marked money paid to them by a poseur.

The suspect’s vehicle was also impounded at the local PDEA headquarters.

The suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165.
