PDEA destroys P7.7-M worth of marijuana

SOUTH COTABATO – Around P7.7 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by combined police forces and anti-narcotics agents during marijuana eradication operations at the tri-boundaries of Kiblawan, Davao Del Sur, Tampakan, South Cotabato and Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 12 director ll Naravy Duquitatan said operatives seized during the first operation 27,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P5.4 million.

The targets of the raid, Gugwelen Macondon and Terso Macondon, escaped upon seeing the approaching lawmen.

Another operation on the same day in Sitio Alyong, Bgy. Danlag, Tampakan, South Cotabato and Sitio Lamalis, Bgy. Datalblao, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat led to the confiscation of 11,500 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P2.3 million.

The uprooted fully-grown marijuana plants were burned on site while samples of cannabis plants were taken to the PDEA 12 laboratory for examination.

Case for violation of Section 16 (Cultivation of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
