ANGELES CITY -- Agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region III (PDEA3) arrested two Korean nationals for selling methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in a drug sting inside a motel along Zeppelin St., Barangay Malabanias in this city last Friday.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino, PDEA3 Regional Director Gil T. Pabilona identified the suspects as Hong Daon, female, 45; and Song Wonseok, male, 40, both Korean nationals and temporarily residing in this city.
After a month of surveillance operation, Pabilona said that PDEA agents were able to transact a drug deal with the suspects for the sale of five grams of shabu for P10,000 and agreed to meet in a motel where the they were temporarily staying.
“Based on our investigation, Hong Daon is an English translator but has a deportation order in 2016. These two would transfer from one motel to another in order to avoid detection from law enforcers”, Pabilona added.
Song, on the other hand, is just a tourist who arrived in the Philippines about two months ago.
It was learned that the two suspects were “just friends” and not lovers.
Confiscated from the suspects were one zip-lock plastic sachet containing more or less five grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P34,000 and the buy-bust money used in the operation.
The suspects are now detained in PDEA3 Jail facility for further investigation.
Charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) in relation to section 26 paragraph B (conspiracy to sell) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied for filing in court.
