SIX ‘high-value drug targets’ are now in jail after they were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in two separate buy-bust operations in the country which resulted in the confiscation of nearly P43 million worth of shabu, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino said yesterday.
Three of the suspects identified as Kuel Borero alias ‘RJ,’ Johaira Abdul and Mila Omar were arrested by members of the PDEA Regional Offices 3 and 4-A and the local police after they conspired to sell a kilo of shabu worth P.5 million to an undercover officer in Imus, Cavite, the official said.
Seized from the suspects during the entrapment operation at Block Block 6, Lot 44, Camella Pristina Expansion, Barangay Buhay na Tubig in Imus were 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 1.3 kilos of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ a digital weighing scale, the marked money, two mobile phones and a motor vehicle.
Another PDEA-led operation in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi early morning Tuesday led in the arrest of three other ‘HVTs’ after they conspired to sell some five kilograms of suspected shabu worth nearly P34 million to an undercover officer.
A report to Aquino said that suspects Haberson Jaafar, Elmer Jamadin and Adzfar Asali were arrested during the buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion in Bongao around 8:30 in the morning.
Recovered from the suspects’ possession were the drugs concealed in plastic packets with tea packaging and the marked money.
The suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
