Pilot, student cheat death

A pilot and a student pilot cheated death after the aircraft they were in crashlanded in Comillas, Tarlac yesterday while it was on its way back to Clark International Airport.

The two were aboard the C172 type aircraft of Alpha Aviation with registry number RP-C3567 that departed the said airport at 7:29 a.m.

On their way back to Clark at 9:44 a.m., pilot Capt. Irineo Manguba requested for an emergency landing citing engine failure. Clark’s tower cleared the aircraft for landing but no reply came from the aircraft.

Capt. Manguba reported that he and student pilot Jeny Jerome, an Indian national, crashlanded in the town of Comillas and requested for rescue and assistance.

The Philippine Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (PARCC) informed the Philippine Air Force (PAF), National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Alpha Aviation and the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) about the incident.

Capt. Manguba was able to contact the PAF A3 and informed the pilot of Sokol rescue helicopter that they have been rescued and are already on their way to the nearest hospital via land travel.

CAAP Go team duty officer AAIIB chief Reineer Baculinao has immediately dispatched an investigation team to the crash site.
