A small plane crashed in a private resort in Pansol, Calamba City in Laguna at 3 p.m. yesterday triggering a fire in the area and an undetermined number of casualties, police said.
Laguna Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Eleazar Matta said that an initial report sent to him by the local police showed that the 2-seater plane crash-dived at the Agojo private resort in Purok 6, Miramonte Subdivision in Barangay Pansol.
An explosion triggered a fire in the area, Matta said. The official said members of the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division are still determining the casualties as a result of the explosion and fire as of press time.
On Saturday, a small plane crashed along the shoreline of Barangay Papaya in Nasugbu, Batangas slightly injuring its pilot and co-pilot, a Batangas Police Provincial Office report said.
The report said that Captain Eugene Avila, 65, and his co-pilot, Capt. Armando Ducat, 25, were rescued by local fishermen and taken to the Jabez Medical Center for treatment.
Batangas police director, Col. Edwin Quilates said the two were on board a Piper Aztec multi-engine plane with tail number PA 23-250 when the aircraft crashed at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The plane was to return to Sangley Point in Cavite City when it lost power and crashed along the shoreline. Fishermen rescued the two pilots from the plane which got submerged in the 17-meter deep water.
The pilots said the plane incurred a fuel system failure which caused the crash.
