Polomolok cops hunt killer of 2

POLICEMEN in Polomolok, South Cotabato yesterday stepped-up their manhunt for the gunman who shot and killed two members of a family and injured another on Wednesday evening, Police Regional Office 12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus said.

The official said that the victims were having dinner inside their house in Barangay Koronadal Proper in Polomolok municipality when they were shot by the suspect at 8 p.m.

Killed in the gun attack were Razil and Aserin Macabangin. Razil died on the spot while Aserin expired while being taken to the Polomolok Municipal Hospital.

Corpus said that Aliman Macabangin Jr., a local barangay ‘kagawad,’ managed to duck for cover and was unhurt in the attack. Another member of the family identified as Jaria was released from hospital after treatment of a gunshot wound on her left leg.

The PRO12 director said that an initial investigation showed that the victims were having their supper at the terrace of their residence when they were shot. Responding policemen recovered three spent M-16 casings and a deformed slug at the scene.

Corpus said the bodies of the two fatalities were buried within 24 hours according to Muslim tradition.

Polomolok Municipal Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel Marvin Duadua said they have been talking with witnesses to the crime to help them identify and arrest the gunman who will be facing a double murder and a frustrated murder case.
