THE Philippine Red Cross continues to assist communities affected by the series of monsoon rains and tropical storms with Senator Richard J. Gordon, PRC chairman, leading yesterday’s distribution of cash grants to 1,314 families from Mangatarem in Pangasinan.
Gordon said the most affected families from Bgys. Bogtong Silag, Dorongan Sawat, Dorongan Valerio, and Pampano each received P3,000 multipurpose cash grants to help them start anew after the devastation of southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storms Henry and Inday and Tropical Depression Josie.
“We are everywhere. While our operations in municipalities affected by Typhoon Ompong are ongoing, we assure the people hit by previous disasters that they will never walk alone. We will be here until they recover,” he said.
In partnership with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the activity is part of the PRC’s effort to support 6,000 families from eight municipalities ravaged by storm-enhanced monsoon rains through emergency response, relief, welfare, water sanitation and hygiene promotion.
PRC has earlier provided cash grants to 644 families from Calasiao, Pangasinan and 184 families from Abucay, Bataan.
