AGENTS of the Police Regional Office 12 on Tuesday launched simultaneous anti-narcotics operations in the region which led in the killing of an armed drug trafficking suspect and the arrest of eight others and confiscation of a sizeable amount of shabu, PRO12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus told the Journal Group yesterday.
The official said that suspect Maula Kadil, a 37-year old resident of Purok Baumol in Barangay Pidtiguian, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat died after exchanging fire with undercover officers in his neighborhood.
Corpus said that the suspect had just sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer near the arch located between the boundary of Bgy. Salbaca and Bgy. Daladap in Esperanza municipality when he sensed the sting and fired shots at the poseur with his pistol.
Back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect on the spot. The suspect’s companion managed to escape on board a motorcycle and is still being hunted, the official said.
Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were a marked P500 bill paid to him by the agent, a caliber .38 pistol and seven heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
Corpus said that the other eight suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the region. Two of them identified as 31-year old ‘habal-habal’ driver Orlando Galuno and Ryan Pardillo, 33, also a public transport driver, were arrested in a sting in General Santos City.
Seized from the suspects were two plastic sachets with shabu and two marked P500 bills.
