Public warned vs fake Ecija gov on FB asking for GCash account

CABANATUAN CITY — Gov. Aurelio M. Umali yesterday warned the public against the proliferation of a fake Facebook account pretending to be him and asking those who have Gcash accounts to message him in private.

The governor’s office through the FB page of “Serbisyong Matapat para sa Novo Ecijano” issued an advisory telling the public to be wary of the said fake “Gov. Oyie Umali” account which circulated on social media.

Ipinababatid ng Tanggapan ng Punong Lalawigan na maging maingat ang publiko sa pagkalat ng pekeng FB account na ginagamit ang pangalan ng ating butihing Punong-Lalawigan. Pinapakiusapan ang lahat na ireport agad ang fake account na ito,” the warning sad.

The fake “Gov. Oyie Umali” FB account said: “Who has a Gcash account? Please send me a private message now. This is only valid until 4 a.m. today (January 3, 2021).

The said fake FB post went viral on social media, generating several reactions from netizens. It produced 233 likes,135 comments and 247 shares.

A top FB fan, Maynard Pascual reacted: “Wag po sana nten paniwalaan itong fake account na ito at wag po nten idamay ang ating governor sa mga ganyan maling information.

Naguumpisa palang ang 2021 sinisiraan nyo na kaagad ang governor ng nueva ecija kailan kaya kayo magbabago,” said Aielaza Espinoza.

Another netizen, Patrick Mendoza commented: ” Aga naman paninira niyan malayo pa eleksyon sinisira nyo na si Gov marami siyang kabutihan ginagawa kaya kayo naman maninira mga baliw na ata yang may-ari ng page na yan.
