SUSPECTED New People’s Army guerrillas abducted a head of the Mamanwa tribe in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte on Monday noon before killing him with a stab wound in his armpit, a Police Regional Office 13 report said yesterday.
Around five heavily-armed suspected rebels seized 40-year-old Rodito Lapugan Boklas, also known as Datu Boklas of the Mamanwa tribe in his residence in Sitio Tagbuaya, Purok 9, Barangay Bangonay in Jabonga municipality for still unknown reasons, the police report said.
PRO13 director, Brigadier General Gilbert DC Cruz said that 21 hours after he was abducted, the body of the tribal chieftain was found by his wife and son in the mountainous area of Amontay.
Cruz said that members of the Jabonga Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion, accompanied by a civilian guide went to the site to retrieve the body of the victim. He said that recovered at the scene was a 23-inch long bolo with scabbard owned by the victim.
The body was taken to the Jabonga Health Center for an autopsy before being transferred to a funeral parlor in Cabadbaran City.
Cruz said that Bgy. Bangonay is known for being an area infested with members of the NPA’s Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee led by one ‘Ka Gab Monter’ and a certain ‘Ka Sadam Dayong.’
Cruz said that criminal charges for kidnapping with murder are being readied against the suspects.
