Retired police officer hurt in ambush

A 65-YEAR-OLD retired member of the Philippine National yesterday was injured in an ambush by tricycle-riding assassins in Calamba City, Laguna.

Calamba City police chief Lt. Col. Jacinto Malinao identified the victim as Melvin Polintan Llanes, of Rosal St. Marcville Subdivision, Bgy. Parian, Calamba City.

Llanes sustained gunshot wounds in the cheek and shoulder.

The victim’s wife and daughter, who was with him when the gun attack occurred, were unscathed.

The police officer was driving a car,with his wife and daughter,when shot by the suspects riding a tricycle at Villa Carpio, Bgy. Parian in Calamba City.

Despite wounded, the police officer managed to drive himself to Calamba Medical Center for treatment.

The suspects fled after the shooting.

Police are investigating the incident.
