Samar school principal jailed for drugs, firearm

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Police Regional Office 8 on Sunday arrested a public school principal in Calbayog City, Samar for his involvement in illegal drug trafficking, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino reported yesterday.

The official said that Arnuflo Abellar alias ‘Arnold,’ a school principal of the Department of Education-Danao 1 School in Tinambacan District in Calbayog City was placed under arrest after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer.

Aquino said that the ‘high-value’ drug target did not resist arrest when surrounded by officers in Barangay Obrero shortly after the sting was consummated around 10:30 p.m. last Sunday.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 10 grams of suspected shabu worth P68,000, a mobile phone he used in making the drug transaction, the buy-bust money and a caliber .357 revolver with five live ammunition.
