San Jose City targets to 75% of vaccinate 75% of 60K individuals

SAN JOSE CITY – At least 70 to 75 percent of 60,000 individuals are initially targeted to be inoculated in the vaccine roll-out to be implemented in this city, the local inter-agency task force on COVID-19 said on Tuesday.

City health officer Dr. Marissa Bunao-Henke said the IATF which is headed by City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador met here and agreed that the city’s frontline healthcare workers are on top of the priority list to be inoculated as per guidelines of the national IATF and the Department of Health.

Dr. Imelda T. Cornel, Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose officer-in-charge, also gave pointers on how the city’s vaccine rollout will be done, noting that at least 70 to 75 percent of the city’s 60,000 individuals are targeted to undergo vaccination.

Salvador said the city government is ready to allot P50 million for the procurement of AstraZeneca vaccines for his constituents.

The mayor also suggested that “if it can be done as prescribed under the rules, all the logistics and cold-chain management about the vaccines,” including the vaccination centers be placed near the barangays.

Salvador also said he is ready to be inoculated by any vaccine brand whichever will arrive first in the city.
