SARANGANI province’s 5th most wanted person was killed in a gunbattle with local policemen who raided his hideout Friday afternoon, Police Regional Office 12 director, Chief Superintendent Eliseo T. Rasco reported yesterday.
Suspect Fernandez Dabuan exchanged fire with officers who were about to arrest him in his hideout in Sitio Tinungkaan in Barangay Datal Anggas, Alabel municipality early dawn Friday, said the Central Mindanao police director.
According to Rasco, the suspect, joined by his son Roger, resisted arrest and opened fire at members of the Sarangani Police Provincial Office, the Alabel Municipal Police Station and the Army who were about to arrest the latter. The official said that a member of the raiding team identified as Police Officer 3 Randy Villarosa was shot by the suspects in the right thigh and is still undergoing treatment in a hospital in General Santos City under heavy police guard.
Roger, also among Sarangani’s most wanted, escaped arrest and is still being hunted.
Rasco said recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one caliber 30 M1 Garand rifle, one home-made 12-gauge shotgun and several live ammunition.
Rasco said the two are the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Alabel, Sarangani Regional Trial Court. The case stemmed from the killing of one Larry Libanon allegedly by the two suspects on September 11, 2016.
Libanon’s wife Nenita is the principal witness in a murder case in Sitio Kalugbog, Bgy. Datal Anggas in Alabel.
Rasco pinned the PNP Wounded Personnel Medal on PO3 Villarosa in his hospital bed. He said that special awards will also be given to the local police force headed by Senior Supt. Arpha Abul Kyr Macalangcom Jr. for their latest success in accounting for most wanted persons in the region.
