A 25-year-old forest ranger under the employ of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in South Cotabato is now in jail after he was arrested while engaging in a shabu sniffing session, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino said yesterday.
Suspect Walter John Domingo, a member of the Banga, South Cotabato Community Environment and Natural Resource Office was arrested by members of the local PDEA and the police in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Tampakan municipality around 8 p.m. last Monday, the official said.
Aquino said that officers rushed to the site after getting a tip regarding an ongoing shabu session. They later found the suspect sniffing shabu while his cohort identified as Clyde Muninio managed to escape arrest.
Recovered during the operation were one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing around 0.1 gram of shabu worth P680, and several drug sniffing paraphernalia.
The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
