Subic locator gunned down

SUBIC Bay Freeport -- An importer of secondhand vehicles based in Subic was shot dead on Wednesday night by motorcycle-riding gunmen while walking towards a hotel.

Based on reports, Dominic Sytin, founder and executive officer of United Auctioneer, Inc., an importer of used heavy equipment and other vehicles based in Subic Freeport, sustained gunshot wounds in the head.

Witnesses said Sytin was walking with companions towards the entrance of a hotel in Moonbay Marina Area inside the Freeport before 8 p.m. when an unidentified gun-wielding suspect came near Sytin and fired several gunshots. Sytin fell dead to the ground.

The suspect fled on a motorcycle.

Police are still investigatiing the motive behing the killing.

Meanwhile, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) condemned the killing of Sytin “to the strongest possible term” what is apparently a targeted assassination of business locators here.

In a statement, SBMA Chairman and Administrator Atty. Wilma Eisma said the incident is a sad news for SBMA, “not only because a prominent businessman has been prey to violence, but also because one life has been snuffed out just like that.”

Eisma said the SBMA is working with the police to flush out the killers and urge the public with information to help the authorities solve this crime.
