LUCENA CITY — A Quezon lady solon commended police and military police and military operatives for their successful arrest of two top members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Atimonan, Quezon on December 26.
Quezon 4th District Rep. Angelina “Helen” Tan was referring to the arrest of Ruel Custodio aliss Baste, 34, of Calamba City, Laguna, finance officer of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA)4-B of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC) and Ruben Istokado alias Oyo/Miles, 38, of Bgy. Paradijon Gubat, Sorsogon, political instructor of L1, KP1, Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).
Aside from being suspected top communist terrorists, Custodio and Istokado are also wanted over kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms and have standing warants of arrest.
Custodio and Istokado were collared in Bgy. Zone 3, Poblacion, Atimonan. Seized from them were two hand grenades, a Bersa Cal .380 pistol, a Cal .45 pistol and various ammunition.
“I would like to commend our joint operatives from the PNP and AFP for their successful operation that led to the arrest of two high-ranking rebel leaders. The arrest shows the firm resolve of our uniformed personnel to keep the country safe from lawlessness even in the midst of pandemic and holiday festivities,” said Tan.
