Tanod killed in Lipa

LIPA City, Batangas -- A patrolling village watchman was shot dead in Purok 3, Bgy. Balintawak here Friday evening.

Lipa City police commander Lt. Col. Ramon L. Balauag said Arturo Dondriano, 52,  was a respected resident and tanod in the area.

Police arrested the gunmen and were identified as welder Romeo Noyna, 19, of B. Morada Ave., Bgy 1; Jaycee Sabadera, 28; and Joshua Cueto y Valencia, 19. They are all residents of Purok 3 here.

Balauag said the Lipa CPS told Dondriano patrolling near the Metro Events Zone bar around 9:45 p.m. when the three suspects on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and shot him several times.

The victim died on the spot while the suspect fled.  

Balauag said  the victim and the suspects have a personal feud.

Balauag  immediately dispatched his men and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to chase the fleeing suspects.

After several hours, authorities cornered and arrested the suspects around 2 a.m. near Purok 3 and Tanco Drive, in Bgy. Marawoy.

Police seized a pistol from one of the suspects and the get-away motocycle.
