Teen nabbed for marijuana

STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Police swooped down on a gasoline station on Sunday night here where an alleged pot session was taking place and arrested a 15-year-old student who was caught trying to throw away a pack of cigarette containing dried marijuana leaves.

Provincial police head Col. Leon Victor Rosete said his men were alerted by the management of the Sta. Rosa Gasoline Station in Bgy. Soledad, informing them that a group of people was allegedly sniffing drugs at their premises at 6 p.m.

When approached by lawmen, Rosete said the group ran away, leaving behind the teener, who hid in the comfort room but was pursued by a police officer, who then caught him in the act while allegedly throwing away at the CR’s window a pack of cigarettes containing dried marijuana leaves.

The student, whose name was withheld for being a minor, is a resident of Sitio Aplan, Bgy. Soledad, he said.

Rosete said the arrested suspect and the seized dried marijuana leaves with an estimated weight of .24 grams were brought to the Nueva Ecija provincial crime laboratory for drug testing and laboratory examination while a criminal complaint for violation of Sec. 11 of Article II, of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared against him for filing before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
