Top female NPA leader nabbed in Laguna

A 60-YEAR-OLD woman tagged as a top leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) was on Tuesday night  arrested by combined police and military intelligence agents in her house in San Pedro City, Laguna.

Antonia Setias Dizon alias “Ka Tonet,” the alleged secretary of the National Organizing Department of the CPP-NPA-NDF who was appointed to her position after the arrest of NPA National Organizing Deparment  leaders Rafael Baylosis and Adelberto Silva, was caught in her residence at Blk. 2, Lot 12 in Artemis Street, Villa Olympia Subdivision, Bgy. Rosario, San Pedro City around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

In a report to Police Regional Office 4-A director Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza, Laguna Police Provincial Office director Col. Eleazar Matta said that recovered inside Dizon’s house were one cal. .380 semi-automatic pistol with magazine containing seven live ammunition, 48 pieces of cal. .380 bullets, 10 pieces of blasting caps, wiring and other several incendiary devices, two cellular phones, a laptop computer and several suspected rebel documents.

Members of the Laguna PPO’s Provincial Intelligence Branch, the PRO4-A Regional Intelligence Division, San Pedro City Police Station and the Army’s 202nd Brigade arrested Dizon after weeks of surveillance.

Matta said Dizon was the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Loue Nueva of the Bayugan City Regional Trial Court in Agusan del Sur.

Operatives raided the suspect’s house on the strength of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and explosives issued by Santa Cruz, Laguna Executive Judge Cynthia Mariño-Ricablanca.

The suspect is undergoing questioning by military and police investigators. She will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
