AGENTS of the Cebu City Police Office yesterday arrested a 24-year old suspected big-time female drug trafficker in Central Visayas after she sold an estimated P7 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer, Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said.
Sinas said that suspect Vanessa Lauron alias ‘Van-Van’ yielded three large plastic packets containing around 1.34 kilos of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P7.035 million and the boodle money topped by P7,000 in marked bills during the buy-bust operation in Block 4, Barangay Sawang Calero in Cebu City.
The PRO7 director said that Lauron’s arrest came nearly two hours after her suspected accomplice identified as 19-year old Jonmark Filipino Cardenas was arrested in another entrapment operation in the same area.
Sinas said that recovered from the teenager’s possession were eight plastic sachets containing some 200 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.360 million and the P50,000 worth of boodle money topped by some marked bills.
Both suspects will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Sinas.
The official commended the Cebu City police force headed by Senior Supt. Royina Marzan for their latest accomplishment in the war on drugs.
PNP spokesman, Senior Supt. Bernard M. Banac said that the PRO7 accomplishment is another proof of the national police’s unrelenting crackdown against illegal drug trafficking and abuse.
“The PNP’s campaign against illegal drug syndicates net two more drug suppliers. We intend to pursue this until we have dismantled all drug syndicates, arrested all their members and put them behind bards following the prescribed rules of engagement, respect for human rights and value for life,” said Banac.
